| The Next Generation Digital Home Experience
|
| |
|
| Mecer is proud to announce the release of the Mecer Xhibitor – the next generation of the complete Digital Home Experience.
|
| |
The Mecer Xhibitor incorporates design and
development by the world’s two largest IT players, Intel®
Corporation and Microsoft® Corporation, in a bid to facilitate a
joint vision of the “Digital Home”. The combination of innovative
software and hardware provides consumers with ease of use, choice,
advanced performance and multitasking capabilities. Together, Intel®
and Microsoft® technologies enable users to enjoy, manage and work
with their digital content such as video, music and photos. |
| |
|
Users can access their digital entertainment from
anywhere in the home with the Mecer Xhibitor, powered by Microsoft®
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and Intel® Pentium® 4
Processors with HT technology, as well as a home network and a Media
Center Extender. These technologies enable choice without complexity
and the ability to easily select from a broad range of PC designs
that provide users with multiple options based on their personal
interests, whether these are music, photography, movies or video. |
| |
|
Powered by the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT
Technology, the Mecer Xhibitor offers users greater system
responsiveness and performance when multitasking applications such
as encoding audio and video simultaneously, or running a virus scan
in the background while continuing to play a favourite game or
movie. |
| |
|
The Mecer Xhibitor is designed to enhance the
aesthetic appeal in a hi-tech home. It will look good in any
audio-visual cabinet and runs close to silent when operating, so
users won’t have their enjoyment ruined by the cooling fan noise of
regular computers. The Mecer Xhibitor comes standard with a wireless
purpose-built keyboard and remote control, and supports Dolby 5.1
and 7.1 surround sound. By connecting a Media Center Extender to
audiovisual equipment in other rooms around the home, one can play
other media wherever one wants, and all connections are wireless. |

- Get ready for Windows Vista
|
|
The experience of
Windows Vista |
| |
| Windows Vista introduces breakthrough computing experiences that are both visually exciting and intuitively designed, and will positively change the ways in which you use your PC. With the new desktop experience, you can more efficiently organize and find your information. You can "see" your files and applications in a way that makes sense to you so you can confidently focus on what you want to accomplish. |
| |
|
| Windows Vista will save you time, with simplified navigation that makes it dramatically easier to see the contents of your files. |
| |
|
| Windows Vista works the way you want it to work, making it a snap to instantly find any file, application, or e-mail on your PC. But Windows Vista goes further than simple desktop search—it also gives you personalized ways to view and organize your files. With Windows Vista, the operating system adapts to you, rather than the other way around. |
| |
|
| Security |
| |
|
| Windows Vista is engineered to be the most secure version of Windows yet. The new features in Windows Vista help to give you the control and confidence you need to get the most out of your PC. |
| |
|
| Search and organize |
|
|
| Windows Vista gives you more flexibility when you search and organize your files. New controls, like the Instant Search box and Enhanced Column Headers, make it simple for you to manage large amounts of on-screen data in any way that you want. |
 |
| |
| Windows Sidebar |
| |
|
| As you use your computer to access more information, perform more tasks, and interact with more software applications, you increasingly face information overload. You open a web browser just to check the weather, open an application to view your calendar, and open a calculator program to simply add numbers. You need simple, specialized, and lightweight mini-applications that put information and tasks at your fingertips—no matter what you're doing. |
| |
| Windows Sidebar boosts your personal productivity by providing instant access to gadgets—a wide variety of engaging, easy-to-use, and customizable mini-applications that offer information at a glance and provide easy access to frequently used tools.
|
| |
| Windows Backup |
| |
| Windows Vista provides valuable new
innovations to help ensure you never lose information that is
important to you. Windows Vista offers multiple layers of backup
and restore protection from hardware failure, user error, or
other issues. These innovations include system restore
enhancements, a new feature called Windows Backup, and a related
feature: Volume Shadow Copy, which was first introduced with the
Windows Server product family and is now available for PCs. |
| |
| Get ready for
Windows Vista |
| |
| Getting ready for Windows Vista, available in early 2007, means choosing the edition that's right for you and ensuring that you have the right PC to enjoy the experiences you want. But more on the editions in next month's newsletter... |

| Microsoft said that they are delaying the launch of an updated version of its Office software to the end of this year as it works to improve the package of business applications.
|
| |
|
| Microsoft announced the following: "Based on internal testing and beta 2 feedback around product performance, we are revising our development schedule to deliver the 2007 Microsoft Office system by the end of year 2006, with broad general availability in early 2007,Feedback on quality and performance will ultimately determine the exact dates."

 |
| Failing to implement appropriate backup and storage solutions is a sure-fire recipe for disaster, since a business without it's data is as good as dead. |
| |
|
| Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular are often guilty of not giving sufficient consideration to their backup and storage systems until it's too late. The disaster that strikes could be the theft of computers, the crashing of a hard disk, viruses or simply that someone has made a mistake and wiped out critical information. And often, even if a backup solution has been implemented, the company finds out to late that it isn't suited to the business, or hasn't been used correctly. |
